Rev. Dr. Eva Smith Smiling
Rev. Dr. Eva Smith Smiling is married to Lodie Charles Smiling, Jr. and they currently live in Dillon, South Carolina. Dr. Smiling is the parent of two children and six grandchildren, but has an extended family of two additional daughters and four grandchildren. Rev. Dr. Smiling is employed by several home health agencies in South and North Carolina as a home health nurse. Nevertheless, one of her greatest joy is being a member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church in Hamer, South Carolina.

Rev. Dr. Smiling believes that God has commissioned her to preach the good news about Jesus the Christ and all her help comes from God. Rev. Dr. Smiling was licensed to preach the gospel in 2006, ordained an Itinerant Deacon in 2009, and an Itinerant Elder in 2011. Rev. Dr. Smiling received her first pastoral appointment in November of 2011 under the leadership of Bishop Preston Warren Williams as Pastor of the Conway Circuit in Conway, South Carolina and served for three years. Her second pastoral appointment was under the leadership of Bishop Richard Franklin Norris to serve at Tabernacle A.M.E. Church in Marion, South Carolina where she served for three years. Rev. Dr. Davis was appointed by Bishop Samuel Lawrence Green, Sr. to serve as Pastor of St. Mary A.M.E. Church and she served for three years. In October of 2021, Rev. Dr. Smiling was appointd to serve at Mt. Zion AME Church (Burgess) in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

Rev. Dr. Smiling was elected as the Treasurer for the Seventh Episcopal District Women In Ministry in July of 2019 and has served as the Marion District Coordinator for the Women In Ministry for approximately eight years. She was selected as Pastor of the Year in 2013 for The Marion Area Young People’s Division and The Marion Area Women Missionary Society in 2014. Furthermore, she was elected to serve as a Northeast Conference Trustee and currently serves on several district and conference committees.

Rev. Dr. Smiling is a graduate of Dillon High School, Claflin University, Florence Darlington Tech. College and has attended Francis Marion University, and Pembroke State University. She is also a graduate of Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina, where she received a Master of Divinity in 2011 and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2017. The title of her Professional Project was, Training Veterans to Become Disciples Through the Fruit of the Spirit.
