Reverend Dr. Myra DeLesline Meggett

Reverend Dr. Myra D. Meggett and her husband of almost forty-three years, Brother Adolf Meggett, Sr., reside in Charleston SC.  They are the proud parents of three sons and have two grandchildren.

 

Reverend Dr. Meggett earned her Master of Divinity degree (2014) and her Doctorate of Ministry degree (2017) from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West SC.  After dedicating thirty-two and a half years to the Department of Defense as an Administrative Specialist in the Comptroller Department at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Engineering Center in North Charleston, she retired.

Reverend Dr. Meggett was licensed to preach in 1995 at Greater Bethel AME Church on Edisto Island where she served in various capacities.  She received her Deacon’s Ordination in 1998 and her Elder’s Ordination in 2000.  Reverend Dr. Meggett has served with distinction, starting with her first pastoral appointment at Allen AME Church in Petersfied, then continued at Greater Bethel AME Church on James Island and is now the pastor of Mount Horr AME Church in Hollywood SC.

In partnership with various outreach organizations, Reverend Dr Meggett and the Mount Horr AME Church actively engage in community service by sponsoring programs such as light bill assistance, food vouchers, COVID and flu vaccinations, diabetes prevention and care, summer youth employment, the Mount Horr Village Summer Camps among other endeavors.

Reverend Dr. Meggett has served both as a delegate and an alternate delegate to the General Conference, as an instructor for the Seventh Episcopal District Board of Examiners, secretary and instructor for the South Carolina Conference Board of Examiners, an assistant secretary and as the statistician for the South Carolina Annual Conference.  She is a member of the Charleston Area Ministerial Alliance where she serves on the finance committee.  She is a member of the Women in Ministry in the Edisto District and the executive assistant to Presiding Elder Reverend Dr. Norvel Goff.  Rev. Dr. Meggett has multiple roles within the Edisto District.

​

Her favorite hymn is “How Great Thou Art”, and she can be frequently quoted to say “To God be the Glory”.   A scripture verse that deeply resonates with her and inspires her actions is Colossians 3:23-24.
