Reverend Beulah S. Reagins

The Rev. Beulah S. Reagins is the youngest of four children born to the late Rev. Jesse E. Spearman and Florence Ward Spearman. She is the mother of four, one deceased, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is a member of Allen Chapel AME Church in Greenwood County where she joined at an early age and engaged in multiple ministries in the church. She is an Ordained Local Elder and previously served for twelve years at Mt. Hebron – Little Mountain Circuit. The two churches thrived under her leadership.

Though she moved away from South Carolina for a period, she continued to be an active church member in Gary, Indiana, continuing her love of choirs, youth, and nursing. Upon her return to Allen Chapel, she accepted the call to preach. With prayer and study, she says she “learned how to care for the whole person; mentally, physically, and spiritually…I learned how to go when I wanted to stay, preaching without pay, but keeping the faith.”

Rev. Reagins has been a trailblazer in the Piedmont Conference Women in Ministry as faithful and consistent member of the organization since the 1990’s. She continues to serve wherever she is asked, promoting self-care for those in ministry and setting an example of perseverance and faith for those who follow behind her. She holds Psalm 27:1-2 close to her heart as a source of keeping the faith. These qualities make her worthy to receive the Jarena Lee Woman of Distinction Award.
