Reverend Melissa Washington Green
Reverend Melissa Washington Green is a native of Rimini, SC. She is the daughter of Ruth Charles Washington of Rimini, SC and Charles R. Washington of Phoenix, Arizona. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter, SC and graduated from Furman High School. Rev. Green received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Benedict College, Columbia, S.C. She furthered her studies at the University of South Carolina, The Citadel, and the Columbia International Theological Seminary. Rev. Green received her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/ Emphasis In Professional Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. She received an MDiv from The ITC in Atlanta, Georgia. She is married to Sam Green and they have been blessed with two children, Trenton Samuel and Morgan Ruth (Troi Thompson) and two grandchildren.

Rev. Green is a retired educator of twenty-nine years in the public school system. She was nominated as Teacher of the Year in 1987, 1992, and 2001. She has been nominated to the National Fame of Who’s Who Among American Teachers and is affiliated with the following organizations:

She has attended five General Conferences as a Delegate and has served on The Episcopal Committee.
Rev. Green is the humble, anointed, and Holy Ghost filled Pastor of Greater St. John AME Church in Rowesville, SC. She is the first female pastor to minister at St. John AME and has served there faithfully for 19 years.
Rev. Green holds fast to Romans 8:28,
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are called according to His purpose.”
